About Creciendo Juntos
Creciendo Juntos means “growing together" and began in 2005 as a community effort to support Latino families living in Charlottesville and Albemarle. We are a leading Latino advocate and provide year round workshops, forums, and resources for Latinos and Latino-serving organizations. We are directed by a volunteer board and partner broadly to help strengthen Latino families' connections within our community.
Who We Are
We are a group of people from different walks of life dedicated to a beautiful cause; which is to help improve the lives of the Latino community of Charlottesville and surrounding counties.
Meet the people behind this wonderful mission:
What We Do
- We serve as an information hub for local Latinos and the many organizations interested in improving their services to Latinos.
- We provide access to direct services and community resources through workshops, community meetings and a comprehensive website.
- We identify and responds to needs of local Latino residents through a vibrant network of Latinos and Latino-serving organizations, including CJ's two working groups on Education and Mental Health.
Latinos in Central Virginia
CJ values Latino residents and recognizes their important contributions to our community. Latinos are a vital part of our community and providing equal access to quality services will ensure we all continue growing together.
Census data confirms that Charlottesville and Central Virginia are experiencing a dramatic increase in the number of Latino/Hispanic households, and this has challenged service providers in the areas of education, health, housing, and public safety, among many others.
At the same time, area businesses, consumers, and residents have seen the positive benefits from the presence of new Latino workers, customers, businesses, and neighbors. Many individuals and organizations in the region want to ensure that the immigrant and non-immigrant communities continue to integrate, grow together, and celebrate the diversity of talents, experiences, and histories that all residents bring to the entire community.
We want to hear from you! Do you have resources, events or job announcements to share via our website or newsletter? Questions about working with the Latino population? Email us at email@example.com.
