OTHER SECTIONS

ESPANOL: this part of the Creciendo Juntos web site will be in Spanish. It is presently under construction.

LATINOS IN OUR AREA: contains a monthly profile highlighting a local Latino personality or community; sociological and economic references/links about Latinos in Charlottesville and surrounding areas; and links to statistics about Latinos in the state of Virginia.

LOCAL LATINO FOCUSED INITIATIVES: a directory of Latino focused initiatives in Charlottesville and surrounding areas that are staffed by bilingual (Spanish-English) workers.

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS: online kiosk where anyone can post announcements about local activities, resources and services oriented to Latinos and the service providers working with them.

IMMIGRATION RIGHTS: a section on federal laws and regulations protecting individuals with a limited English proficiency (LEP), along with a list of local government agencies receiving federal funds and other related resources; and a section on immigration rights containing bilingual immigration law fact sheets and brochures, online links to state and national pro immigration groups, and local protection for immigrants who are arrested without cause.

LEP PROBLEMS, PROPOSALS AND ACTIONS IN VIRGINIA: links to studies, statistics, LEP proposals and reports on outreach activities related to Virginia’s Latino population. This page also contains LEP tools, a power point presentation of a local cultural sensitivity training, and a directory of Virginia organizations helping Latinos to access resources and services.

IMMIGRATION MYTHS AND FACTS: summaries and links to national studies, statistics, films and other resources related to the U.S. Latino population.

RESOURCE GUIDES: descriptions and links to resource guides (in English and Spanish) for helping the local Latino population.

PRINTED MATERIALS IN SPANISH: a catalogue of brochures, flyers and other printed Spanish language information relating to services in Charlottesville and surrounding areas.

INTERPRETERS: a reference for locating local interpreters and about the Court interpreter certification process.

LEARN SPANISH: a list of informal Spanish conversation groups offered by local organizations and institutions.

CJ ALERTS: archive of email alerts notifying recipients of upcoming meetings, resources or answers related to Plenary presentations and discussions, CJ website updates, community announcements, and other information related to learning about or improving services to our local Spanish-language community.
